Changes to ABMA Programmes

After careful consideration and to maintain its status as a leading provider of vocational education, the Association of Business Managers and Administrators (ABMA) has decided to re-evaluate its vocational qualifications in order to continue to better serve ABMA students worldwide.

The ABMA Advisory Board reviews its programme of vocational qualifications on a continual basis. This is to ensure that ABMA students remain leading candidates when entering the employment sector and enabling ABMA qualifications to remain relevant and valuable. Therefore, students can be assured that any alterations made to ABMA qualifications will enhance their future prospects whether they are about to undertake an ABMA course or indeed, are already studying with the ABMA. The following changes will be in effect for the September 2010 examination series:

•    ABMA qualifications will be structured at Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels.

•    The Dissertation component of ABMA qualifications will be removed from the Certificate and Diploma levels and will now feature as a compulsory element of the Advanced Diploma.

•    The Business Foundation Certificate has been replaced by the ‘ABMA Foundation Award’ and will serve as an entry requirement onto any ABMA Certificate level qualification.

These changes have been made to ensure that ABMA qualifications are recognised by the vocational qualification authorities around the world and are therefore easily matched to comparable qualifications in other countries. This means that a student with an ABMA qualification can confidently expect to take their qualification to an employer in another country and have that qualification accepted without question.
The above changes are accompanied by a revision of ABMA’s fee structure. After four years without increasing the fees charged to students it has become necessary to introduce marginal increases to cover the costs of syllabi revision and the use of single examination centres throughout the many countries in which the ABMA operates. These changes in fee structure will be in effect as of 1st July 2010. In addition, the ABMA Advisory Board have chosen to revise the syllabi to ensure that ABMA students are studying qualifications that are both relevant and highly sought after by employers and institutes of further education worldwide, ensuring that ABMA students receive the best value for money of any international qualification.
